All-round does not just apply to training, it applies to maintance too. Because just like any athlete, a horse performs better when in perfect shape. At the ranch, we have all the tools to get you there.
Equine therapy (massage therapy) Our equine therapist Devon Peiffer makes regular trips to the ranch and welcomes new customers. "Just like us, horses can experience soreness of their muscles or joints as a result of physical activity, old or new injury or many other factors that can affect their performance. Unlike us, they can't explain the discomfort they may be experiencing. The horse may start acting out in many different ways in order to cope with the discomfort. This could lead to bucking, bolting, refusing to take the proper lead, refusing to take the bit, being difficult to saddle and the list goes on. The symptoms vary with each horse. I am dedicated to restoring the horse back to his or her natural, free moving state to help enable you to have the best experience with your equine partner". Sessions are regularly $80, but a 10% discount is in place for Sandstone ranch customers.
Equine dentistry Just like feet, horses teeth do not wear down the same in captivity as they do in the wild. Horses were meant to graze all year around on hard, native grasses. Being on hay 7 months and soft grasses for the rest of the year causes slow wearing of dentin and can have disastrous dental problems as a result if not attended to. Add a metal bit to the mix and one can imagine the discomfort we are causing to some of our equine partners. Fortunately we can help horses by annual floating and balancing of the teeth and creating bitseats to make it more adaptable to the bridle. Our equine dentist charges $160 per float and offers a $30 discount for horses in training.
Farrier services Amy Kendall recently graduated from Olds college offers farrier services to Sandstone clients at $40 per trim.
Equivibe machine Equivibe is an equine vibration plate that aids in performance, rehabilitation and the prevention of injuries. The EquiVibe gives off vertical vibration, the most proven and preferred form of vibration for horses. Vertical vibration allows your horse to receive the benefits of whole body vibration in a natural and efficient way. Other forms of vibration have been known to “work against your horse” by putting torsion and stress on muscles and joints. This innovative treatment of vertical whole body vibration training and therapy for horses has been successful for improved performance, faster rehabilitation and preventative care of injuries. Horses can experience physical wear and tear due to their training and competitions. They may also develop complications due to their confinement in the stall. The EquiVibe is an alternative to exercise in less time. The EquiVibe can help repair muscles, improve bone density, and maintain muscle mass in a stall horse. It is also used as an aid to warming up and cooling down. Sessions on our equivibe machine are available for $20 at a duration of 20 minutes.
